Figurative studies, mixed media, oil paintings and digital. Explorations of emotions and body language, reinterpreted within my creative process
I have always revered the work of Renaissance masters like Giorgione, Caravaggio and Dürer, and consequently revelled in the strict training of classical sight-size portraiture at the Charles Cecil School in Florence and with Nicholas Beer in Salisbury.
In contrast, I’m drawn to the immediacy and vitality of both Freud and Schiele’s work. I continue to develop and explore in both oils and digitally. I’m fascinated by the versatility of the digital process, alongside the intensity of impasto oils and more formal painting styles.
Now resident on the North Coast of Cornwall, there is an inevitability that I have been drawn to the dynamics of the seascape environment that surrounds me.
